answers shouldn't
come with a meter.

Zigpoll sizes its plans in responses per month. toldby has no response quantity in its pricing at all — free or $6, and you collect as many as you get. Zigpoll is also a far broader app than toldby, including in ways toldby cannot match at any price, and this page starts with that.

where zigpoll is the better app

Read this section first. If any line in it describes your problem, toldby is not the answer and the rest of the page is irrelevant.

and where the metering bites

With that said: the pricing axis is genuinely different, and for a post-purchase survey it is the axis that decides how you use the thing.

Read off the Shopify App Store listing on 19 September 2026. Other apps reprice and their review counts move weekly — check the listing before relying on any of it.

The reason this matters more than a monthly figure: a metered survey is one you ration. You take it down when the quota is close, you avoid publishing to a second surface, you think twice about leaving it running through a busy month — and every one of those choices costs you the data you installed the app for. Post-purchase surveys pay off by being permanent.

toldby removes the decision. Publish once to both surfaces, leave it up, and the only thing your plan affects is how far back you can look: the free plan shows the last 24 hours across analytics, the feed and the CSV export, and Pro opens the whole history. That is the single gate, and it is a time window rather than a quantity.

Which to choose

What toldby asks is all in the template library. If your category cannot buy ads — and so the pre-purchase question is moot because there is no campaign to optimise — the community attribution page is the more useful read. Pricing is one page, because there is one paid plan.

questions merchants ask about this

What happens on Zigpoll when I run out of responses for the month?

Their tiers are sized in monthly responses — the listing showed 50 on the free plan, 200 at $39, 600 at $129 and unlimited at $399 when it was checked on 19 September 2026. Crossing a tier means upgrading, and a survey that gets answered more than you budgeted for costs more. toldby has no response quantity in its pricing at all, on either plan.

Can toldby ask a question before someone buys?

No, and this is the honest dividing line between the two apps. toldby renders only on Shopify's Thank You and Order Status pages — after payment. There are no on-site surveys, no product-page questions, no cart or exit-intent popups and no email or SMS surveys. Zigpoll's listing advertises all of those.

Does toldby's free plan include AI summaries like Zigpoll's does?

No, and it is a fair point against us. Zigpoll's listing shows AI insights on every tier including the free one. On toldby, AI summaries of open text are a Pro feature at $6 a month; the free plan collects every answer without limit and shows you the last 24 hours of them, but the written summary is gated.

Which one has more surveys and channels?

Zigpoll, comfortably. Post-purchase, exit-intent, product page, cart, email, SMS, survey links and Shopify POS, plus revenue and AOV comparison against ad platforms, an API and an MCP endpoint. toldby does two surfaces and nothing else, which is a smaller promise and the reason it is cheap.

Why would anyone choose the narrower app?

Because the metering is the thing that actually annoys people about survey tools, and removing it changes how you use one. When responses cost nothing you leave the survey running permanently, publish it to both surfaces, and stop thinking about it — which is when a post-purchase survey starts compounding. If you only ever wanted the question after checkout, you are paying for eight surfaces to get one.

Comparing something else?

Or start from the question rather than the app: the template library lists what toldby can ask, and pricing is one page because there is only one paid plan.
