the questions worth asking
after checkout

A buyer who has just paid is the most willing they will ever be to tell you something. toldby ships 8 ready-made templates for that moment — these are the actual questions, word for word, and the honest case for and against each one.

How did you hear about us?

The nine channels most stores actually get found through, asked while the buyer still remembers which one it was.

Community attribution

For stores that can't buy ads: ten places word of mouth travels, and a follow-up on every one that has a name.

NPS

NPS (Delighted style)

One question, 0 to 10, worded the way Delighted asked it — and every score attached to the order that earned it.

NPS + why

The score, then the reason behind it in the customer's own words — which is the half you can actually act on.

A labelled 1–5 rating of this order specifically — checkout, shipping, the unboxing — rather than of your brand.

how to choose one

Most stores run the wrong survey first. Here is the order that usually works.

If you cannot name the channel that sold your last ten orders, start with attribution. It is the only question whose answer changes where you spend money tomorrow, and it is the one a pixel is worst at. Run how did you hear about us if you buy ads, or the community template if your category cannot.

If you already know where they come from, ask how it went. CSAT rates this one order — checkout, packaging, the wait. NPS asks about the relationship instead, and NPS with a follow-up is the version that tells you why the number moved.

If you have no idea what to ask, ask nothing in particular. Anything else? is one empty box, and it reliably surfaces the problem you did not know to put on a list. Read a fortnight of it, then run a pointed survey about whatever kept coming up.

The two remaining templates answer narrower questions: what almost stopped you finds the objection your product page did not handle, and the repeat-purchase driver asks a first-time buyer what would bring them back.

What every template has in common

What none of them can do

Every template here runs after the sale, on your Thank You and Order Status pages. That is the whole surface toldby has today: there are no on-site surveys, no exit-intent popups and no pre-purchase questions, so nothing in this library can tell you why someone left without buying. If that is the question you need answered, an on-site survey app is the honest recommendation — we say so plainly on the Zigpoll comparison.

The flip side is the trade toldby is built around: because every answer arrives welded to a real order, you can ask what a channel was worth rather than how many people clicked. More on the plans in pricing, and more about the app in the FAQ.
