same question.
the bill stops growing.

Fairing charges by how many orders your store took last month. toldby charges $6 — at two hundred orders, at two thousand, at twenty thousand. This page is the honest version of that comparison, which means it also says where Fairing is the better app.

what your store pays as it grows

Both apps ask the same kind of question. The difference is what happens on the month you have a good month.

What sets the priceYour order volume last monthNothing. One plan, one price, no thresholds

Read off the Shopify App Store listing on 19 September 2026. Other apps reprice and their review counts move weekly — check the listing before relying on any of it.

The gap at a thousand orders a month is $99 against $6, and it widens as you grow rather than closing. That is the entire structural argument, and it is worth about as much as the features you would be giving up — so here they are.

where fairing is the better app

Not a courtesy paragraph. These are real gaps, and for some stores they decide it.

If you are under 200 orders a month and want integrations, install Fairing. Their free tier is more app than our free tier at that volume, it costs nothing, and we would rather say so than win an install you regret.

where toldby is different

Three things, and they are all consequences of the same decision.

The price does not track your success. Volume pricing means a good Black Friday arrives with an invoice, and the loudest complaint in this category has always been bill shock at a threshold nobody was watching. toldby has no thresholds to watch. The number is $6 a month, or $50 a year, and it stays there.

There is one plan, so there is nothing to outgrow. No feature you discover is on the tier above. Every question type, every template and both survey surfaces are on the free plan; Pro adds the full response history and the AI summaries of open text, and that is the whole gate. Free is limited by time, never by volume — analytics, the response feed and CSV export all show the last 24 hours, and collection itself is never capped on either plan.

Answers are welded to orders, not sessions. Every response is stored against the Shopify order and customer, so the question is never just how many people said Instagram — it is what those orders were worth. That is the part the attribution template is built around.

Which to choose

The full list of what toldby can ask is in the template library, and the whole pricing story fits on one page because there is only one paid plan.

questions merchants ask about this

What exactly changes when I cross an order threshold with Fairing?

Their listing prices by monthly orders: free up to 200, then $49 for 201 to 500, $99 for 501 to 1,000 and $149 for 1,001 to 5,000, with the same feature list on every tier (checked 19 September 2026). Nothing about the survey changes as you move up — the store got busier, so the bill did. toldby is $6 a month whether you take 50 orders or 50,000.

Is Fairing's free plan better than toldby's free plan?

For a store under 200 orders a month, honestly yes. Their free tier lists unlimited responses, LTV analysis, AI attribution insights and 25+ integrations — toldby's free plan has none of those integrations, gates AI summaries to Pro, and only shows you the last 24 hours of your responses. If your volume sits below their threshold and you want integrations, install theirs.

Does toldby integrate with Klaviyo or Google Sheets?

No. toldby has shipped no integrations at all, and Fairing's listing advertises more than twenty-five including Klaviyo, Google Sheets, Shopify Flow, Triple Whale and an MCP endpoint. If piping answers into another tool is part of the job, this is the wrong app today and we would rather you knew before installing.

Is toldby certified for Shopify Plus?

No. Fairing's listing carries Shopify Plus Certified status; toldby does not, and it has no Built for Shopify badge either. It launched in August 2026 and has no reviews yet, against nearly two hundred five-star ones for Fairing. If a procurement process needs a certification, that is a real answer and it is not ours.

So what is the actual argument for toldby?

A bill that never moves, and nothing to outgrow. There is one paid plan at $6 a month, it includes everything the app can do, and no threshold exists for a busy December to push you through. If you are past a few hundred orders a month and what you want is the attribution question rather than a data platform around it, that arithmetic is the whole case.

Comparing something else?

Or start from the question rather than the app: the template library lists what toldby can ask, and pricing is one page because there is only one paid plan.

grow the store.
not the invoice.
